Brain Storm: Why I Love Being The Head Of DB (after graduation)
Whenever I go back to Xinmin, I always notice one thing. The Head of DB 2005 is around. The Head of DB 2006 is around. The Head of DB 2007 is around. And so is the Head of DB 2008.
It has been 4 generations. The Excos of Xinmin chosen to become the Head of Disciplinary Board for 4 years are always together, always going back to support the school. I started realising that no other committees are like this a while back. I must say I was lucky. I chose the right people to join DB and the right people wanted to join DB. I told them I'm glad to have dedicated and capable juniors like them. And they being my cheeky, cute juniors said "yeah! of course!". Lol.
I like to go back to Xinmin, and know that my successors have done a good job, and know that they still come back to school to help out, and know that they loved being the Head of DB and that we all share a bond, a kinship that only we know. As we grow up, the gap between us as seniors and juniors start to melt and we became more like close friends and buddies, though we only see each other a couple of times per year. It's a relationship I appreciate.
And I swear I have been trying hard to not talk to them like juniors anymore. Hah.

Brain Storm: Loyal To My School
Have you graduated from your secondary school/junior college? (sorry poly folks, I'm not sure if you guys have a school song)
Do you still remember your school song?
2 weeks ago, I went for a musical put up my by alma mater. It was nice to see so many juniors supporting this (ultra expensive) musical. I felt age was really catching up to me, since there was a time when I knew almost everyone at a concert but now I know almost no one at all. The musical was also part of the celebration for the school's 65th anniversary. The last concert I went to was meant to celebrate the school's 60th anniversary. My gosh, 5 years have passed. Did I have these wrinkles on my face back then?
I shall not talk about the musical in detail. I will just say that next year onwards I'll just buy the ticket and donate it to the school for students who can't afford it. My dear juniors should consider rehearsing for the gift presentation to the VIPs next time, at any rate. When the concert ended, it was time for the student audience

Brain Storm: Chance(s)/Experience(s) Are But Once
When I went to NUS to meet my friends, a gloomy topic came up. They mentioned how they wished to can attend my batch's orientation. That's when I remembered that they were going for overseas attachment for a year. Gosh, it's going to be one year, they said. They wanted to be school mates with us once again. It's been what? 4 years since we were school/class mates. The weird sensation that we would spend time together in our second home is a nice one. But unfortunately, we can only be school mates for one year.
Time passes too fast. We all agree. In the blink of an eye, they're going to graduate. They don't want to, I don't want to. The bonding and friendships we have in school are far too fantasy-like. The society out there is too realistic, it is too harsh.
When we were school mates, we never thought such a relationship will come to an end. Yet it will, and it is nearing. As we grow old, some experiences and chances will never come back.
Forgive me, for bitch-slapping you in front of you, for giving you nonsense every single minute, for calling you bastards and bitches, for showing you middle finger all the time, for being whiny and arrogant, and for throwing tantrums and being selfish. From now on, I'll still do all these things, but I'll savour every moment of it, and I'll appreciate every action I do. Promise.

Brain Storm: I'll Be There For You, Not Be There For Me
When I was in Sec 3, my friend got into a pretty bad cycling accident. A small section of his forearm was smashed. He was hospitalised, needless to say. We were all kinda worried.
Then came one day, another friend suggested visiting him, and tons of his other friends whom I do not know are going as well. I hesitated, and I said "but there's so many of his friends going and I don't know them". I was put off by the fact that I have to be surrounded by strangers. Then one of our mutual friend muttered, "are you going there to see him? Or are you going there to see his friends? Why are you hesitating?"
I was shocked. And I was ashamed of myself. I was supposed to go visit my friend. I'm not going there for my own sake, but for his. Why did I need to care who were there?
Years down the road, it becomes common. When a gathering comes along, people start asking, "erm, so who's going?" Usually, this means that this person more or less will not be attending the gathering. A gathering is but one of the many. And then there are departures, or events of great significance.
"So who's going?" Not you, that's for sure.
