Mooncake Festival

Zhong Qiu Jie <<中秋节>> is known in English as Mooncake Festival, or more commonly Mid Autumn Festival, is on the 15 August of the Lunar Calender. And boy, its been 10 years since i last celebrated it. I decided to go along since my friends mentioned they all had fun the previous years.

We went to Punggol Park, loaded with lanturns (including one Ultraman one), more than 10 packets of candles and loads of matches. Quite a few people went, though more would have been fun. I called, but most people arent free.

The girls were mainly chit chatting, and the guys were mainly creating rockets using the materials we have. Amidst the explosions and whistling of sparkles around us, we kept failing to create our own rockets. Meanwhile, i was creating words with candles. It was pretty fun, and the current wallpaper i'm using on my blog now is made by me. Cool huh? Too bad the night mode of my camera isnt of good quality. Most photos came out dark. But still, these arent too bad.

This is supposed to be WuShu's WU in chinese. But the cluttered flames made it hard to see.

I created another heart at first. But it was kinda a failure. The 2 contrast tones are due to one taken by my phone and another by a camera.

I got quite bored at one point and didnt know what to make. It didnt really occur in my mind, but other words are quite complicated. Haha i'm still quite innocent.

A level Prelims 2007

Today is the 4th day of the prelims (but there's no paper today). For the first to third day, my combination had all 5 subjects. Monday was GP and Physics P3, Tuesday was Maths P1 and Econs P2, Wednesday was Chemistry P3. Its so tiring.

It was all ok, until Chemistry.

But you know, if i'm ever going to be a teacher, i'll make sure i propose that no tutors are allowed to make noise during the examination. Its annoying and distracting, seriously. If i don't get at least a B for my chemistry, i think someone may die, and its not gonna be me. Sheesh, seriously, i thought tutors should be educators with some EQ. But apparently that's a generalisation.

6 more papers to go.

Teacher's Day

Yesterday was Teacher's Day. Thus 31st August was the school celebration for it. 31st August is also the Graduated Friends Reunion Day. Last year it was more of Teacher's Day for me. But frankly this year, i looked forward to seeing my friends more.

I didn't go to college, not really interested. It was optional anyways. At 9.45, i reached Xinmin. As i approached the gate, i saw a Raffles girl cat walking towards my direction. It was so distinctively Liyue. I laughed all the way until i reached the gate. Naturally she hit me when i mentioned about that to her. Coincidentally, i met Ed and her so we went to see the teachers together. The guards say "canteen only". My friends were like whispering to me "really ah?" and i said "of course we chiong up lah". So we went to the staff room and noticed that the door was ajar. We took this opportunity and sneaked inside. The science HOD asked us who let us in, but when we didnt answer that question, she just let it pass. But apparently we arent the only ones who attacked the staff room. We saw Mr Singh, Mr Ho, Mrs Teo, Ms Yeo, Mr Pah, Mdm Chua, Ms Pan, Mdm Tian, Ms Kuck, Mr Chan, Ms Abey, Mdm Hanifah and Ms Tee but unfortunately, we didnt talk much to them. It's really a pity. I remember last year i interrupted Mdm Tian's lesson and she gladly spoke to me until the bell rang for break.

The performance was, well, not too enticing as usual. Half way through i couldnt take it anymore and left the hall. But seeing the SL trainee kids do hard labour work with no grumbling warmed my heart a little. Afterall i was once a Junior Prefect too. Anyhow, i met Ching Yee, Han Kee, Jia Jian, Danny, Xiang Yeow, Eric, Joanne, Atikah, Noraini, Hong You, Jasper, Cassandra, Sandra, Stephanie, Hui Shan, Jason, Benjamin, Desmond, Elgin, Sabrina, Aishah, Wan Shi Ting, Yinning, some of my TJ juniors whom i dont miss at all (i see them often in college), and maybe more but i cant remember. I had a good chat with Ching Yee, Eric, Jason and Atikah, but seriously it wasnt enough. I also miss Zuli and Leon a lot. Hope i get to see you guys again soon. I also didnt get to see my other juniors like Khee Ern, Shalina, Zu Yao, Shi Ting, ya and many more. Oh well...

Then yesterday, 1st of September, halfway through studying, i smsed Mrs Melissa Tan, arguably my favourite teacher, who helped me get an A1 for O lvls from a F9 (E8 after moderation) for prelims. She thank me for remembering her, then i said "how can i forget you? i heard that you made me a legend from last year's class 402". Then she said this "Yes your performance was a big motivation for all of us. Nothing seems impossible as its still about diligence and perseverance." Haha... I guess diligence and perseverance was half of the key to my success. The other half was Mrs Tan. Last year when i went back to see her, she was with Mrs Song too. Then when 3 of us were walking back to the Staff Room, Mrs Song ask me "so can you tell me your secret?" I pointed to Mrs Tan and said "ask her". Mrs Tan said "how i know." but then its really the truth.

I sms other teachers and my JC tutors too, mainly those who i have their numbers and i am quite close to. Its heartening to see their replies (though some didnt reply).

Ah i just remembered that i didnt take any photos with my friends. Its a pity. But at least i made a promise with Atikah to have a gathering with some friends after prelims. And the final good luck handshake with Jason was warm too. Thus, happy teacher's day to all my beloved teachers and tutors. Really appreciate your efforts. If not for all your pushing and trusting, I wouldnt have gone so far. And to all my friends taking the prelims, lets Jia You together and chiong this last lap at maximum velocity. After the As, we can have a good rest and gathering.

Till then, all the best.
