Event: It's Gonna Be 2009

2008 is coming to an end. Its only around 3 hours to 2009. Thus its time to reflect on the year gone and past.

2008 is the year of me being a soldier. I am so proud of myself that i survived. Hah!

Thats really the end of the reflection. Cause nothing much happened. Okay, maybe except the part where i gained 7kg in BMT.

2009 will be a greater year, cause its ORD year. But it will also be a year which i lose touch with even more friends, become even more desensitised, spend even more money in order to pamper myself after each book out, become more indifferent towards everything and everyone, and become angrier by day due to having to face retards everyday. Blood pressure will shoot through the roof, muscles will ache more than ever, bank account will be emptier by day, but i will live through it.

My resolutions for 2009:
1) Try not to be so desensitised that i dont even give a damn about my closer friends
2) Try to spend less and save more for my university
3) Try to catch up on my Chinese and English language as well as some basic computing stuff
4) Maintain my weight around the range of 52kg to 55kg
5) Gain so much muscles that i will look hot in tight-fitting clothes
6) Down pes in August
7) Beat up at least 50% of the guys in my i-want-to-beat-you-up-cause-i-dont-like-your-face list by the time i ORD
8) Train my eye-rolling skills until my powers suppass Storm's

Everyone around me seems more distanced. The girls are pressured by wider social life in university and handling school work. The guys are making more buddies and getting more duties. Hope everyone's doing good and have done your reflections like good boys and girls. May 2009 be better than ever.

Happy New Year~

Ramblings: Grit My Teeth, Clench My Fist

Some people just cant stop being rude to others, or just cant show them some basic respect.

There's actually a list of people whom i hope to beat up on 10/11/2009. The date and timing is to be confirmed, as unforeseen circumtances may force me to do that earlier. You can actually tell when you see me grit my teeth and clench my fist.

Drink: Starbucks (Green Tea Frap)

My friend introduced this to me some months ago and i totally love it. After trying many different configurations, i've finally settled with my favourite.

"Venti Green Tea Frap please, with 7 scoops of green tea and no whipped cream"

Senseless Stuff: I Love My Workplace!

My workplace is a very interesting place, filled with interesting people, doing and implementing interesting things.

1) Daily checks on manpower

Every morning when we report for work, we have to gather at the lobby of our company and sort of report to our department in-charges. Then the in-charges for the departments will go forward and report the manpower of each department to the sorta-assistant-of-CEO and he will write down on piece(s) of paper. Then we will go for breakfast at the canteen in my workplace. The interesting is, an hour later, we have to gather again to do the exact same thing. When the in-charges report again, the assistant had to take down everything again, as if the whole manpower status changed. (psst, actually i know that he used it to wipe his backside...)

Also even though they claim that they are telling the assistant the manpower status, it always take very long. The workers such as myself have come to an understanding that the assistant is actually asking for the latest food haunts that the in-charges of went to. As the in-charges of each department changes everyday, the assistant can actually gather quite a lot of foodie information. Whenever the in-charge is not able to give the full details of the place/price/food range etc, the assistant will be very angry while the in-charge tries to remember. When he finally gives up, he turns to his worker for help, and eventually walks back to his department in shame, trying to remember the rest or ask whether any worker knows anything about it or not.

2) Weekly Fitness Day

My company takes care of our well-being and make us do exercises frequently. So there's this day, actually today, where we went for a run. The superiors sorted us according to running abilities and i went to the average one, supervised by this worm-breeder. As my friends and myself were feeling quite slack, we ran quite slowly. After we ran for 10mins, the breeder turned to us, smiled cheekily, and said "com'on just a bit more only". His face actually meant "i know you guys are tired, i am too, but we only have a bit more too go, i am sian about it too". May i be forgiven for i have sinned, as i immediately laughed out loud and my friends were surpressing it too. The reaction from us was like "So You Think You Can Run? HAH!" I wasnt even trying, my friend. Us being slack doesnt mean we cant run.

On the same run, one of the higher ups came to join us to run and he constantly spoke to a fellow worker. My colleagues and I were running right behind and i made a comment about the weather. The higher-up immediately told me that if i still have the breathe to talk then something is wrong. Hmm, i was just following the slow pace of the breeder, i didnt think it was wrong for me to be far fitter. And werent he talking too? So much for being a superior specimen example.

3) Last Minute

The CEO said that we can go home earlier today. There was so little work that i dozed off at my table for 3 hours. Suddenly (the breeder) came into my room without knocking and told me to get ready for the fitness day at 4.15pm. I was still dreaming about knocking off at 5pm. Then the breeder slammed my door, blind to the new sign i just pasted on my door saying "please be gentle with me, i am just a door". After the run, suddenly my department in-charge had a load of stuff for my department to do. Early became later. How efficient.

4) Bread

This morning at breakfast, the canteen provided some free-for-all bread and i decided to bring one loaf back since i have some bread spread at my table and my department thought it would be nice for us all. On my way back to my department, some worker from another department saw me holding the bread and starting making interesting comments like "wah stealing from the canteen ah?" "wah they all not even rich enough to buy bread" etc etc. When i was at the lobby, one of them came beside me and asked me why i took the bread. I knew i should have ignored him but i still told him the reason. He said something like "steal bread say steal bread lah". My friend commented that i shouldnt have wasted my time on attitude-problem-losers but i told him that if i dont try to educate these attitude-problem-losers then they would be very pitiful. I should at least try and i wont feel as bad even if it failed.

I shant say no more, else it will begin to sound more stupid than interesting.

Items: Key Chain, New Specs and Tea Tree Oil

This keychain was bought in Australia for 20 bucks. There's different types of stones available and this one is Hematite. The package wrote that it means "Unlimited Potential". Sounds cool. Its a bit heavy though.

Finally a new pair of spectacles after around 6 years. It cost me quite a bomb.

This small bottle of tea tree oil from Body Shop cost 15 bucks but it works wonders removing blemish and pimples from your face. Works as a disinfectant too.

Brain Storm: Incompetence

Some people work better under stress, some otherwise. But when one gets stressed up so easily, and become totally useless and not able to think straight at all, don't you think that shows a little too much of a incompetence? And I daresay that you should know this trait of yours long before present. I think that we should not take up certain challenges if we know we are incompetent in certain areas. It helps some to gain experience and grow, but not all. Sometimes the price to "help youself grow" is too high too.

So learn to shut up, listen, keep your incompetence to yourself and listen to the competent ones. Or turn around. If not, don't take up the challenge right from the beginning. It's annoying.

Event: 71/08 Commissioning Parade

After all my complaints, all will know that this is not my commissioning parade (not that i will ever have) but one of my buddy's. The parade was quite outstanding. Its not perfect I daresay, but you can feel the overwhelming spirits in each and every one of the commissioned officers. Their loud singing, their vigilence and their commitment spoke volumes. Although i must say that i did felt a bit offended when some of the ushering cadets greeted the family in front of me but did not do the same to me on my way to the parade square. I almost felt as if my lowly rank was written on my forehead. But then again my doubts were cleared quite nicely when I was making my way out of the camp where the usherers came forward to ask me where I'm headed and tell me where's the way out very politely with big smiles. Kudos to them for making an impression.

The parade was quite fanciful. Marching in, marching pass, turn right on the march, turn right again back to original position, many times they saluted I also dont know what were those for, then they march out of the parade square by forming 3 single files on each side of the parade square by climbing up the steps, coming back in through the same way, putting the ranks on them, pledge and anthem, and finally throwing of their caps/beret into the sky, something I did when i passed out from BMT.

During the putting on of ranks, I went down quickly to Edwin. I came to attention, saluted him, asked for permission to carry on, and thanked him by saluting him again. He seems surprised. Tsk tsk, looks like he will have to get used to being saluted, and having to cut down first.

After taking a few more photos, I left the camp. I wouldnt say that the cadets were very informative cause I didnt get home as soon as i can because of them. By the by, the officers totally looked like kids when they throw their caps/beret and hugged, cheered, dance around. Kids for officers... Or not? Time will tell.

Thats Edwin in the centre of the last row

2LT Edwin. He's da man!

Leonie the band-er and me

The only BMT platoon mate i happen to see. I must say his OCS platoon mate is a good photographer.

Like kids~

I salute you cause I respect you. I call you Sir cause I know you're worth the title. But sometimes I have to salute and call people Sir cause I'm forced to. Dont let it be the latter. The impact you can make on your men is more tremendous than you think so. Let it be a positive impact, for life.

Ramblings: Fit For Fitness

The year is coming to an end, and the window for me to clear my first year tests are closed. 6 months ago i was like that, 6 months after that i am still like that. This calls for drastic measures. Thus on a beautiful friday afternoon which i'm totally supposed to be slacking somewhere, i went to the new (new to me anyways) Sengkang Clubfit Gym. It was not bad, except it was filled with totally new looking machines and i had no clue how to use most of them correctly. The fitness instructor was nice enough to give me an orientation after i asked him. Not bad, i think i'll go there often.
