Thank You For The Music

2 days ago, we had quite a cool Contact Time talk on marriage. The speaker was pretty interesting. However what really caught my eye was this 2 slides which he say are irrelevent to the topic. He claims that either he had forgotten to take them out or accidentally put them in, i forgot which. Anyhow, this 2 slides got my eyes cause i saw this few lyrics which were all too familiar.

The title of this song is "Thank You For The Music". Why do i remember it? Thats because its my primary school graduation song. Pretty cool huh. I just checked online and found that the lyrics my primary school gave was only part of it and some of the lines were changed. Anyways here goes.

Thank You For The Music

Chorus
Thank you for the music, the songs i'm singing.
Thanks for all the joy they're bringing.
Who can live without it
I ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without a song or a dance what would life be
So I say thank you for the music
For giving it to me

Bridge
I've been so lucky
I have the chance to sing for you
I wanna shout it out to everyone
What a joy, what a chance, what a life!

Chorus x 1

Yup. So thanks, for the music, for giving it to me. If you think you've given me music, feel free to ask me to sing this song for you to hear.

Inter-School Wushu Competition 2007 (2)

The things i want to talk about in this post is the performance costumes. Yup i became a spying cam/peeping tom/perverted old man on days which i did not compete. Worse still most of the photos i took are guys. *Gasp!* Thats mainly because i didn't notice many girls with fanciful costumes. Oh people please forgive me, blame it on your costumes.

This is more of a white costume than a silver one. Some people looks really good in it, but some looks really disgusting. But dang, this colour is definitely one of my top 5 favourites.

This is more of a hydrid between magneta and pink. It also has silver linings on its sleeves and collar. Looks pretty cool actually.

This is a shade of orange costume. Not bad i say.

Yet another white costume. The previous guy looks better i think.

This guy is a very pro pro. He has nice costumes too. Bright yellow is one of my favourite colours. His is a hybrid between gold and yellow with black linings. One of my top 5 too.

Look at the array of costumes just before an event.

This girl is like the most pro female in the arena i saw in this season. She's looks really good with super long legs and she's also very graceful. Not that i'm interested in girls taller than me...

Just a sidetrack. Guess whose white long and slender legs is this?

The answer is Wai Yeow! He's the whitest guy in TJ Wushu. But man, those legs look like they can kill in one hit...

This is the previous guy who had a magneta-pink costume. A close up look.

I prefer this orange than the previous one. One of my top 5 favourite colours. In fact its my 2nd favourite.

This is the pro i mentioned just now. His costume looks like the kid before. But this is more pinkish i guess. Also has silver linings.

This costume is totally pink! But its not really hot pink. Seriously, this is at the top of my favourite list, though i don't think it will look good on me. I prefer costumes which don't have linings though some do look nice.

I rarely see southern fist costume which is light blue. Southern fist costumes are all sleeveless by the way. Not bad.

Another southern fist costume. A fine blue colour.

This is the group event costume this year. Pale yellow doesn't look bad but i don't look good in it. I usually wear a bright yellow colour.
Top 5 list
1) All Pink
2) All Orange
3) All Gold
4) All White
5) Gold with black linings

Thats all for my review and this draws the curtains to the Inter School Wushu Competition 2007. =)

Inter-School Wushu Competition 2007

Good Work everyone! Temasek JC ranks National 4th in A Division Boys. This was the first time i participated in the competition and it sure felt different from last year when i was merely a spectator.

Allow me to describe the events on each day.

Monday 9/4/07

Events: International Routine Nan Quan (Southern Fist) (A Boys)
Participants: Song Yan

The event was supposed to start at 6 but it was delayed till almost 7.30. A lot of us were tempted to go home but we stayed to cheer Song Yan on. Even pros can be nervous you know, though he was sleeping half the time while waiting for his event (from 11.30 to 7.30). His event had 6 people. At least one of them was from National Team (they train an insane number of times of 6 days a week i heard). There was at least 2 strong people excluding Song Yan but one of them was quite injuried. Song Yan did us proud by clinching Silver.

Total no. of points for A Boys: 5

Tuesday 10/4/07

Events: 4th Routine Broad Sword (A Boys), 4th Routine Straight Sword (A Girls)
Participants: Alwin, Li Min, Sze Ying

Alwin's event was at 3pm. There was about 2 or 3 strong opponents excluding himself. There sure was stress especially being the last person. The National Team member got a shockingly high score. The 2nd last person also did very well. Alwin did us proud by winning the 2nd last person by 0.02 points and clinched Silver. It was worth my time serving him water and grooming his appearance while waiting for his turn.

I didn't stay for Li Min and Sze Ying's events but i heard they did quite well too though not in the top 4. Well done people!

Total no. of points for A Boys: 10

Wednesday 11/4/07

Events: 4th Routine Cudgel (A Boys), 4th Routine Spear (A Boys)
Participants: myself, Song Yan, Alwin, Guan Wen

My event was at 3 with Song Yan. I was terrified, seriously. Even though i did sleep for a while. Song Yan went up first, scoring a rather high score. After seeing some of them did their routines, i felt more confident. How naive was i. I didn't screw up at all but i lost badly. I got 2nd last with another person. Though there was a few that was only 0.01 or 0.02 above my score. Coach says its because my basis of foundation is not there and there was a feeling of stiffness and fright in my actions. Oh well, the experience counts. But Song Yan did us proud by cliching Bronze even though he only practised for like, 1 week? Pros will be pros. Too bad i don't have his video since i was competing.

The next event was 4th Routine Spear. Guan Wen was too nervous, Coach says. But he didn't do too badly nonetheless. Alwin was pretty good. But this is where the competition turned ugly. For some unknown reason his 0.05 was deducted from his score. This had never happened before. Actually we do know what is happening. Another school's coach is trying to be funny apparently. Our teacher-in-charge was not very useful either for refusing to appeal. I wonder whats his reason? Was it sheer annoyance of trouble or fear of trouble? However there was 4 unbelievable strong opponents in this event and they all took the top 4 positions. So we decided to let it pass.

Total no. of points for A Boys: 13

Thursday 12/4/07

Events: First International Chang Quan (Long Fist) (A Boys), First International Straight Sword (A Girls), Second International Cudgel (A Boys)
Participants: Wai Yeow, Jia Yi, Chen Shao

First international Chang Quan and First international Straight Sword were both the 2nd events of the day. While testing grounds, Wai Yeow was still very relaxed and his moves were not at its best. Thank mother nature for adrenaline. Despite not pracitising very hard for this season, Wai Yeow did us proud by clinching a bronze. Actually i don't understand how he can still be so good even though he's so slack. 8 years of foundation sure wasn't for nothing.

Jia Yi's event had 6 people and she also did well by clinching a Bronze. She's also the only newbie getting a medal despite starting wushu only last year.

I didn't stay for the last event but i heard that the incident occurred again. This time he was deducted 0.2 points out of 10 (FYI, 0.2 is A LOT in wushu). Because of this his ranking fell from Silver to 4th placing. Geez.

Total no. of points for A Boys: 17

Friday 13/4/07

Events: Second International Routine Cudgel (A Boys), 4th Routine Straight Sword (A Boys), 4th Routine Cudgel (A Girls), 4th Routine Spear (A Girls)
Participants: Chen Shao, Wai Yeow, Guan Wen, Sze Ying, Li Min

I only stayed for Chen Shao's event. Actually didn't intend to stay for any but Coach caught me sleeping and wanted me to go help Chen Shao. Oh well. This time the corrupted judge wasn't at Chen Shao's court and he did us proud by cliching a Silver. I didn't take the video well cause the gold awardee keeps blocking me and i was squeezed at one corner already.

I heard that none of the other events got into top 4th but everyone did their best. So well done!

Total no. of points for A Boys: 21

At this point in time, we are ranked national 4th with Hwa Chong and National JC tailing closely behind us. Victoria was first, Meridian second and Anderson got third. National JC was no longer a threat as they do not have anymore events. The only event left was Group Event which any school can participate once, twice or none. Hwa Chong has one more event which it will win us as long as it can secure the third position. I think they had 17 points. So our main focus is to not let them get third. How does poisoning or tripping them over sound? Lol. The first and second places were already secured by Victoria and Meridian because they are too strong. Heard that Anderson's Group Event is also very strong so by right the first 3 places were already taken away.

Tuesday 17/4/07

Events: Group Event
Participants: Wai Yeow, Chen Shao, Song Yan, Alwin, Guan Wen, myself

Actually we were quite relaxed. We didn't try out our moves and at the very last minute we were still adding moves and clarifying things. With all due respect to other's school's hard work and perspiration, we did not deserve to win. While we were doing our routine, my mind was blank, really really blank. I can't remember doing anything at all. In fact, there were 3 moves in the routine that i rarely practised and they were all very difficult moves. I still don't understand how i did them out. Oh well. But we did great and cliched the 4th position. For some reasons, Anderson lost to us by 0.01. Hwa Chong was supposed to win us but they did a stupid error which cost them 0.2. Yishun JC was the unexpected one. We did not expect them to win us, attaining third place. Actually one of them dropped his weapon, which cost 0.5 points. However only one judge saw so it was pretty useless. As usual my dear teacher-in-charge for unknown reasons refused to appeal to the central judges. If not we would have gotten third.

Total no. of points for A Boys: 24
Rank: National 4th

Actually throughout the whole competition we were very angry with the school which protrayed itself as corrupted. It wasn't just the belief of Temasek but also other colleges as well. So we kind of staged the walkout.

Ranks for A Boys
1st VJC
2nd MJC
3rd AJC
4th TJC

The various top 4 JCs discussed and we decided to walk out when the award was announced for that school which happened to be right after MJC. Since all the schools have gotten their awards before MJC, when MJC got its award, all of us immediately left. It's pretty obvious which school is corrupted. I wonder how the students think of their coach. Sure they were strong, but they shouldn't have gotten their rank.

All the other JCs were crowding around with each other, declaring that we won without being corrupted. It was kind of funny.

It was really a good experience.

Oops this post is too long.

I will review some other things in my next post.

Wushu 武术

This is my specialised weapon, the cudgel. I'm definitely not a professional since i only learned it last year and has no talent. But i do know a little about it.

Wushu may be seen by many as very chinese. Oh well, no excuses it is. The basis is fist and it forms the foundation of wushu and every style that we do. Wushu has many weapons and even those that you won't believe. The common types are straight sword, broad sword, cudgel, spear. We also do fist styles such as the Long Fist and Southern Fist. Other types include Taiji sword, southern sword, southern cudgel, 9 section whip, fan, umbrella and even the stool!

The way to learn Wushu is to follow routines set by China. These routines include the 4th, 5th and international routines. Because of this fact, many says that Wushu is not very practical. But it sure is cool yeah?

So, the Annual Inter School Wushu Competition is starting from tomorrow onwards. Lets work hard and go through this together! Temasek Junior College Chinese Pugilistic Club!!

淡初武术

Levis

So like, i finally managed to get a few friends to go out and help me pick the Levis jeans. I've got a 60 bucks voucher for buying my handphone last year and decided that i might as well spend it. I missed the chance when i got held back for lessons when some of my friends, including one that has good sense of fashion, went out for a movie earlier. So i had to make do with the ones yesterday. Haha. But its really better than shopping myself. Firstly i have absolutely no sense of fashion. Secondly i'm very shy. Thirdly i don't know how to shop for expensive clothes. Yup, that's why i'm blogging about it. Cause this pair of jeans is the most expensive clothings i ever owned. It cost 70 bucks even after the voucher OH MY GOD!!! (alright, pardon me. i really know nothing about fashion nor do i care)

So luckily for my friends, i was able to make a wise choice. But i'm still sore over the fact that i couldn't buy the model 523 because i'm too thin!! Size 27 was ok even if i jumped but with a hard pull it will come off. It didn't look as good as size 28 either. However for size 28, a slight pull will make it come off. With promises from both my male and female friend to pull my pants off whenever they see me wear that, i had to buy 506 instead. Oh well, i will defintely buy it when i'm rich and have gotten fatter.

Bleach

Bleach Chapter 12.5

To people who are unpopular, loner etc, birthdays dont really exist. No one bothers to remember it anyways. One thing i dont agree with what Aizen said is that "just knowing your birthday is already a happiness". I rather not remember it.

But there were people who remembered, so i guess im not all that unhappy.

Not everything in life goes on like how we want. Even if everyone or anyone looks happy, some elements of sadness exist. I dont pretend but i dont seek it either. Just wanna say thanks for the wallet (really loving it).

We climb, shine and always go our separate ways, becoming further apart.

But we did shine together.

So i'll be by your side too. When you need me...

Top 100 Movies in 2006

My classmates say my blog is rusting so i shall procrastinate no longer. I had wanted to blog about this long ago. The list for the Top 100 Movies in 2006 was out on 21st Feb and i just went to dig it out of my pile of newspaper.

I shall type out a few significant ones and only up till no.62 since i didnt watch anything beyond that.

1) X Men 3: The Last Stand (watched)
2) Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
3) I Not Stupid Too
4) Mission: Impossible 3
5) Night At The Museum (watched)
6) Superman Returns (watched)
7) The Da Vinci Code
8) Casino Royale (watched)
9) Fearless (watched)
10) Happy Feet
12) Curse of the Golden Flower
15) Rob-B-Hood
16) Click (watched)
17) Memoirs of a Geisha (watched)
20) Dead Note 2: The Last Name (watched)
22) Dead Note (watched)
29) The Lake House (watched)
32) The Departed
34) Dragon Tiger Gate (watched)
35) The Prestige
36) Garfield 2 (watched)
37) The Banquet (watched)
47) A Battle of Wits (watched)
57) The Covenant (watched)
62) The Guardian (watched)

Ok by significant i meant either i watched it or i wanted to watched by no time or got PSed.

Wow i didnt know i watched so many movies last year. Its really a pity that i didnt catch Pirates, Mission Impossible and Rob-B-Hood. The rest of the movies i watched are quite nice except a few like The Banquet and The Convenant.

The best ones have to be Night At The Musemum, Death Note 2, The Lake House and Fearless. I really laughed till my tears came out for Night. Death Note 2 had a surprisingly good plot for a movie though the manga was still better. At least the plot wasnt cheesy and L still died in the end. Fearless was a nice martial arts show though the plot is quite lacking. The Lake House has to be first romance movie i ever watched. One of my female friends actually said that she didnt believe that one of my male friends and myself will come and watch this kind of show. I dont crave for it but i do watch romance movie as long as they are not the usual predictable stuff. Lake was really nice. Its about how a woman was communicating with a guy who lived 3 years apart. Ya years not miles. So its kind of magical. Kind of cheesy but still engaging. My female friends cried. (oh lord) There was this one part which the male lead was crying after knowing his dad's death. Being a man he tried to hold back his tears, thus some weird noises as he weeped. Guys go try and you'll hear it. Well i wont say how i myself came to know about this but then most guys should (we're all humans right?). But this 2 male friends of mine actually laughed at it. Bless their day of hearing themselves doing it wont come too soon.

The best movie of 2006 for me would be Night. Its just too funny to be endured. Thumbs up for it.
